What should I expect?
Your consultation
As part of the initial consultation, Professor Silber will review your case. He will discuss a plan, including investigations, such as blood tests and scans, and treatment.
Professor Silber will aim to see you at your allocated appointment time. However, the practice of medicine is not always predictable and there may be circumstances where he needs to attend to complex cases or emergencies and so may run late.
Be assured that when he sees you, he will devote the necessary time and attention. Whilst an average time for a new consultation is 30 minutes and a follow-up is 15 minutes, it may be longer or shorter depending on clinical need.
Remote consultations
The practice of medicine has changed and since the COVID-19 pandemic we recognise that many patients may benefit from remote consultations, either as an initial or follow-up consultation. In line with current guidance, and with agreement of most major health insurers, Prof Silber continues to provide remote consultations for specific patients, where he can assess the problem, arrange appropriate investigations and management. If clinically indicated, he will recommend face-to-face review.
Investigations and follow-up
If Prof Silber has arranged investigations, please contact our office or the relevant hospital to book a follow-up consultation to review these and decide on further steps. It is our policy to not discuss results outside of a formal consultation.
Please note that investigations, including blood tests and scans, are charged by the hospital, or other providers, not Professor Silber. These costs should be agreed to with your insurance before proceeding.
I am legally obliged to inform you that I have financial interests in some of the providers that I use to provide care for my patients. These include City and CW Health Limited, 1 Welbeck, Pharmacierge and Oryon Imaging.
Correspondence
Following the advice of the medical colleges, it is our policy is to write to the patients and the referring clinician. It is good practice to send a copy to the patient’s GP and we will be grateful if you will share details with us.
Our preference is to email letters to you and your doctors, but they can be posted if requested. You should appreciate that this may not be a secure means of communication and we cannot be held liable for problems arising from this. If you use a work email address, these may be seen by your employers, you may therefore wish to provide a personal email address.
What if I can’t make my appointment?
If you are unable to attend and/or would like to reschedule/cancel your appointment, please call us as soon as possible so that we can offer the slot to another patient.
Please note that you may be charged in full for appointments not cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice.
How do you make sure my data are protected?
Professor Silber and Eli Silber Ltd collect and process your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as outlined in the Privacy Notice.
Eli Silber Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Professional Fees
What will it cost?
Professor Silber’s fees are in line with fees charged by his senior colleagues throughout London. Fees can vary, depending on insurers. For new consultations, a maximum fee of £330 will be charged, with follow-up consultations at a maximum of £170.
If you require a private prescription outside of a consultation, a fee of £35 is charged.
Will my insurance pay?
Professor Silber is recognised by all the major insurance companies. This includes BUPA where he is a Premier Provider, AXA PPP and most other health insurance companies. If there are any queries please discuss this with your insurer or our office. Where possible, the insurance company will be billed directly.
Please make every effort to provide the correct insurance details and, if necessary, obtain authorisation prior to the appointment. Some insurance companies require proof of a GP or specialist’s referral.
Please remember that seeing a private doctor is a contract between you and that doctor. If you have private health insurance then they may reimburse you for whole or part of the cost, but ultimately it is the patient who is responsible for all professional fees, including any shortfall. Please check that your insurance policy will cover these costs as if the cost is above policy limits, the patient is responsible for payment. Failure to make payment may result in the matter being referred to our debt collection agents whose charges will be added to and payable with the invoice debt.
How and when do I make payment?
All accounts are handled by a dedicated company, Digital Kash Flow Ltd. They can be contacted on 020 3813 7779 or 07502 430 755.
Professor Silber’s practice accepts payment by cheque, BACS, debit and credit card. Details are provided on the invoice. Please call 020 3813 7779 to arrange payment.
Self-paying patients: You are requested to pay in advance by calling 020 3813 7779. Non-residents must settle accounts in full on the day of the consultation. Failure to make payment may result in the matter being referred to our debt collection agents whose charges will be added to and payable with the invoice debt.
Insured patients: Where possible, the insurance company will be billed directly, but the patient is responsible for any shortfall, which can be paid by contacting 020 3813 7779.
If you have a sponsor (Embassy or Company), this must be arranged in writing prior to the consultation. We require a Letter of Guarantee for all Embassy patients.
